How far away is Estes Park?

Estes Park is located approximately 7.5 miles or 12 kilometers north of Dao House.

Is there Shuttle Service to Dao House from Denver International Airport?

Yes. Estes Park Shuttle (970) 586-5151 provides scheduled service from DIA to Dao House. Current rates are $45.00 one way and $85.00 round trip. Summer Schedule is as follows:

Does Dao House have a pool and hot tub?

Currently we do not have a pool and hot tub. Check back for updates as we continue our renovations!

Can I make and receive cellular phone calls at Dao House?

No, we do not have a line of site to the two cellular phone towers located 7.5 miles away in Estes Park.  Wifi is available in and around our buildings.  It is recommended that, prior to arrival at Dao House, you contact your cellular phone provider to set up wifi calling if it is available on your cellular phone.  Dao House personnel are not able to assist with this task.

All guest rooms are equipped with telephones.  Local calls are 50 cents each.  Domestic long distance is billed at 7.5 cents per minute plus a 50 cent call origination fee.  International rates vary by country.

Does Dao House accept pets?

Dao House does not accept pets.  Certified Service animals are allowed as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Does Dao House allow for smoking?

All the buildings on the property are non-smoking.  Guests are required to smoke only in open areas 20 feet from any door or window, regardless of weather conditions.  There is no smoking allowed on balconies, porches, or patios as none of these are 20 feet from a door or a window.  Smoking in a guest room will result in a cleaning fee of a minimum of $300.00.  Guests are allowed to smoke any material that is legal in Colorado.

Does Dao House have horseback riding?

Dao House has on-site stables.  Minimum age for a solo rider is 6 years of age.  Double riding is not allowed.  For full information on the options offered by Dao House Stables please visit the Stables page.

Can I take alcoholic beverages on a wagon, sleigh, jeep or horseback ride?

No.  Due to insurance restrictions no alcoholic beverages may be taken on any kind of vehicle whether is a motor vehicle or a horse drawn vehicle.  This restriction also applies to horseback rides.  You must finish your beverage prior to boarding.

What does your Continental Breakfast consist of?

It includes a spread of organic, homemade breads and/or muffins; fruit juices; organic milks; bagels and pastries; fresh seasonal organic fruit; cereals; bread and we can tailor to dietary restrictions with gluten free and dairy free options.  Coffee and hot water for tea are also provided.  Continental Breakfast is served from 8:00 am until 10:00 am each morning.

How long has Dao House been under current ownership?

In 2012, Wu Dang Chen purchased the property, continuing the traditions of the West, while introducing and teaching the ancient wisdom of the East. During the floods of September 2013, the lodge was hit by a landslide and consequently closed for 9 months, reopening in summer of 2014.  Renovations are still continuing.
